About this Event
Research confirms that Black Canadians continue to be significantly underrepresented in civic leadership roles, including senior public service, elected office, regulatory bodies and the gateway professions to civic leadership roles, such as law, public policy and business.
The 1834 Fellowship Conference is designed to provide opportunities for Black Youth to increase their knowledge of civic leadership roles and different career options within Government.
You will experience in depth non-partisan discussions with Senators, Senior Bureaucrats, and Members of Parliament on how to create and implement public policy in Canada, with an opportunity to ask questions and network with like-minded peers.
Confirmed Guest Speakers include:
Annamie Paul, Leader of the Green Party, Co-Creator of the 1834 Fellowship Initiative
Celina Caesar-Chavannes, Former Member of Parliament
Greg Fergus, Parliamentary Secretary to the President of the Treasury Board and to the Minister of Digital Government
Lindell Smith, Councillor, District 8 Halifax Peninsula North
Nadia Theodore, Former Consul General of Canada in Atlanta, United States
