Centring Health & Sustainability While Confronting Anti-Black Racism in the Workplace

February 3, 2021 @ 12:30 PM 2:00 PM

With rising mainstream consciousness of anti-Black racism in what is currently Canada, a parallel expectation of unpaid labour has been bestowed onto Black people in the workplaces.

Join Celina Caesar-Chavannes and Larissa Crawford in an action-oriented dialogue about confronting racism in the workplace; maintaining health and sustainability in doing so; and asserting our boundaries.

Celina’s highly anticipated book, Can You Hear Me Now, will be released on February 2nd. Her book chronicles many of the experiences she had of confronting racism in the workplace, namely Canadian politics, of navigating the consequences of doing so, and of overcoming adversity to centre well-being and justice-oriented purpose.

Larissa Crawford founded Future Ancestors Services Inc. in response to the racism, ableism, and ageism she regularly encountered in her previous workplaces, and sought to change these realities for others; they now serve over 150 clients, from youth-led grassroots organizations to the highest offices of power in what is currently Canada.

Both women will bring their insights, tactics, and teachings to leave the audience with actionable pathways forward as we confront anti-Black racism in the workplace in healthy and sustainable ways.

All proceeds from this event will go toward compensating Black facilitators and speakers at Platform.
